Big.first.name (BigFirstName) is operated by Jason Lee Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 07570837. Our registered office is Office 7, 35-37 Ludgate Hill, London, EC4M 7JN, United Kingdom. Contact us at support@big.first.name.
We don’t sell your guest lists or private uploads, or use guest details for our own marketing. Your data is your data.
What We Collect and Why
We collect the information you provide when you create an account, make a purchase, prepare an event or contact us. This includes your name, email, account preferences, purchase records, messages, and any guest details, photos or designs you add. If you connect an event service, we receive the information you choose to import.
We also collect technical information, such as your IP address, browser, site activity and error reports, to operate, protect and improve the service.
We use account and purchase information to fulfil our agreement with you. We also have a legitimate interest in providing support, fixing problems and keeping the service secure. Some records are needed to meet legal obligations.
Looking After Your Event Data
The organiser or organisation responsible for an event is the data controller for guest information. BigFirstName acts as a data processor, handling that information on their instructions to provide and support the service. The controller is responsible for its lawful use, privacy notices and responding to guests’ data protection requests.
We may access account information and content when needed to maintain the service, provide support or proactively investigate and fix problems. We take reasonable steps to protect it.
Public event posts that we reshare with attribution are covered by our Terms.
Services That Help Us
We use other providers for particular parts of the service:
- Linode (Akamai): hosting in Los Angeles, USA, with backups there and in London, UK.
- Cloudflare: additional backups.
- Stripe: payments.
- SparkPost: sending account emails and newsletters.
- New Relic: performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
These providers may process information in other countries under their standard data protection terms. Protections for international transfers include standard contractual clauses with UK provisions, or recognised arrangements such as the Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, where applicable. You can contact us for details or copies of the safeguards relevant to your information.
We may also disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, our rights or the service.
Email Choices
We send account and service emails, and occasional news and offers. You can stop news and offers through Contact settings on your account page or the unsubscribe link in those emails. Essential account and service messages may still be sent.
Keeping and Deleting Information
You can delete your saved event work or close your account. Offline copies may remain temporarily in backups and are removed through our regular backup retention process.
Some records are kept separately after account closure. These include payment records for accounting and payment queries, and email delivery records for administering mailings. We determine retention by the purpose of the records, applicable legal requirements and the need to resolve outstanding issues.
Your Choices and Rights
For information we handle as a data controller, including account, billing and website information, contact us to ask for access to, correction, deletion or a portable copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict its use. These rights depend on the circumstances and applicable law. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it. You have the right to complain to the ICO or your local data protection authority.
Requests about guest information should be sent directly to the organiser or organisation responsible for the event.
We’ll keep this policy up to date and tell you about significant changes where appropriate.
